Sweetwater Mesa

The Sweetwater Mesa project consists of a five single-family home development project on a 151-acre property in the Santa Monica Mountains above the Malibu. The residential project includes an integral plan for upland habitat restoration and a trail easement dedication intended to facilitate implementation of the Coastal Slope Trail across the Malibu/Santa Monica Mountains coastal area.

Winecki Consulting, Inc. was retained in 2011 to assist with re-planning the residential development and has since assisted with all facets of entitling the revised project with the Coastal Commission and County of Los Angeles. Winecki Consulting, Inc. is currently working with the property owners on permit efforts with the City of Malibu, condition compliance and the project implementation phase. Project responsibilities have included facilitating initial Coastal Commission settlement negotiations for the redesigned residential site improvements, developing  and presenting project alternative considerations and applicant-proposed mitigation; identifying and assisting with the preparation of technical studies, policy and environmental constraints analyses to support the public review and decision-making process, and representing the project at meetings with stakeholders and at public hearings. The Coastal Commission unanimously approved the project in December 2015, and the County of Los Angeles issued pertinent approvals for the project entitlements in October 2016.
